Inhabitants of Vulcan’s digital Olympus, prepare for an electrifying twist in VulcanVerse! The battlefields of Vulcan are evolving, and mortals are now stepping into the fray—literally. The Avatar Combat System is here, giving players the ability to engage enemies directly as their avatars wield powerful weapons and execute thrilling melee attacks. Whether you’re defending your lands, challenging rivals, or caught up in a skirmish while foraging, the new PvE experience in VulcanVerse is going to scale new heights!
Here’s what’s in store with the Avatar Combat System:
Step into the Fight
In this exciting new combat system, players can directly control their avatars to engage in battle, complementing the existing Vulcanite-versus-Vulcanite combat. Imagine rushing into the heat of battle, wielding weapons with precision, and executing combos to turn the tide in your favor. Have you ever watched as your Fae Fox gets endlessly pummelled by a more powerful Vulcanite? Now you can step in and turn the tide of battle! The gods are watching—show them your might!
Weapons of War
Choose your weapon wisely—each one brings unique attack patterns, animations, and advantages:
- Sword: A balanced choice for swift slashes and quick combos.
- Dual Axes: Unleash devastating damage with each axe landing its own powerful blow.
- Spear: Attack from a safer distance with its extended reach and pinpoint precision.
- Shield (Visual): While currently for show, it pairs beautifully with swords and spears for added flair.
Combat Mechanics That Pack a Punch
Combat in VulcanVerse now comes with a whole new arsenal of techniques:
- Melee Attacks: Unleash non-targeted strikes with left-click. These allow for freeform combat, even outside of a fight sequence.
- Combos: Chain together consecutive attacks for extra damage, each blow unleashing a different animation and multiplier.
- Special Attacks: Press “F” for a high-damage, cooldown-based strike that adds variety and power to your arsenal.
- Dash & Roll: Used to quickly reposition during combat. Dashes let you evade in any direction, while rolls provide a quick forward burst. Dash is activated with SHIFT while holding a weapon and Roll is activated with C while holding a weapon.
How Combat Works
Your avatar’s combat abilities complement your Vulcanite’s skills during battle. While Vulcanites clash in the heat of combat:
- Your avatar can jump into the fight, adding additional damage to hostile Vulcanites.
- Fights can be initiated through standard methods, such as foraging on defended plots, being caught spy-foraging, or engaging in duels.
- The battle ends when all Vulcanites on one side are defeated, but your avatar can give you a serious edge until that point.
Please note: Avatars cannot take damage from Vulcanites or other avatars, and Raid Bosses are unaffected by avatar combat. This keeps the focus on complementing existing combat mechanics rather than replacing them. In this respect at least, the player character cannot be considered just a “mortal”!
Weapons at the Ready
Switch weapons dynamically during gameplay by pressing “Z.” Test out different weapon types to find your preferred playstyle and adapt to the ever-changing challenges of the VulcanVerse battlefield.
For the Strategist and the Warrior
Avatar combat doesn’t just add action—it adds strategy. The system encourages players to think tactically about how their avatar’s abilities can turn the tide of a fight. Time your dashes, chain your combos, and maximize the damage output of each special attack for optimal success.
