What Makes Raid Bosses Unique in VulcanVerse?
Forget the solo slugfests of the past. Raid Bosses demand a multifaceted approach. These behemoths boast a fearsome dual health bar system:
- Physical HP: The familiar territory. Pummel them with your Vulcanites’ raw power to deplete this bar.
- Willpower HP: This one’s trickier. Here’s where strategy and teamwork come into play. This HP cannot be damaged by the Vulcanites but only the avatars can deal with it. You’ll have to find clever ways to exploit the environment to drain this bar.
Understanding Raid Bosses’ Physical HP and Willpower HP
Boss Physical HP is represented by a specific bar that gets depleted through the basic attacks of your Vulcanites. This means that your avatar doesn’t need to directly interact with the Boss to reduce this HP. Instead, your Vulcanites will automatically attack the Boss and deplete at its Physical HP. To ensure this happens efficiently, bring the strongest Vulcanites you have into the battle. The more powerful your Vulcanites, the quicker they will reduce the Boss’s Physical HP.
Willpower HP is a bit different and here is what you need to know:
- Will Spheres (Energy Spheres): These are floating orbs/spheres that serve as the primary means to damage the Boss’s Willpower HP. To utilize them, players must run towards these spheres and collect them by stepping directly into them, which will inflict damage on the Boss’s Willpower.
- Will Focus zones (Strategic Zones): These appears at random locations periodically. Unlike Will Spheres, they don’t deal immediate damage but will inflict consistent periodic damage to the Boss’s Willpower HP if your avatar remains within the zone. Only one player can deal damage from this zone at a time, so there’s no benefit in having multiple players inside.
Both Will Spheres and Will Focus Zones can be interacted with by any player, even if their Vulcanites are not active. So, everyone can participate in the Bossfight, and if your Vulcanites are down, keep collecting them!
Healing and Restoring your Vulcanites
Healing Veils
Healing Veils appear as green beams at random locations in the arena and last for an extended period. Their primary role is to keep your group alive during the boss fight.
- Activation: If your avatar enters a Healing Veil and you have at least one alive Vulcanite, you will periodically heal all other Vulcanites fighting the Boss, except your own and those of other players using Healing Veils. The healing effect only applies to Vulcanites not interacting with the Healing Veils.
- Team Strategy: The healing effect increases for each player standing inside the Healing Veil, so grouping up inside them can help you better withstand the Boss’s attacks.
- Caution: If you dedicate yourself to healing, be cautious of Blast Spheres and other threats to your Vulcanites, as you won’t be able to heal yourself. Be prepared to step out of the Healing Veil occasionally to restore your Vulcanites’ HP.
- Requirement: Remember, you need at least one alive Vulcanite to heal others. If all your Vulcanites are down, you won’t be able to provide healing.
Vulcanites Rest
If your Vulcanites are defeated by the Boss, you can use the Rest action to revive them. Once they are revived, press the Combat action to send them back into the fight, giving you a chance to make a comeback! Do you have more than one Vulcanite? If so, you can switch to another while the first rests (if a user wants to use the first defeated Vulcanite despite having more available, they will have to wait for the Vulcanite to finish resting.
The Titans Fight Back: Prepare for a Dynamic Encounter
Cooperation is key to conquering Raid Bosses. The more you contribute to the fight, the better your rewards! Every action counts, from raw damage dealt to strategic plays that tip the scales in your favor.
These legendary creatures aren’t pushovers. Expect a flurry of counterattacks designed to test your reflexes and teamwork:
- Area-of-Effect Attacks: Dodge devastating blasts of fire, ice, or raw magical energy unleashed by the boss.
- Deployed Obstacles: The arena might shift, creating obstacles or hazards that hinder your movement and require strategic maneuvering.
- Adaptive Tactics: These clever beasts will adapt their attacks based on your strategies. Stay on your toes and adjust your approach accordingly.
Understanding how Bosses attack Vulcanites and Avatars
Against Vulcanites
- Basic Attack: The VulcanVerser Raid Bosses target one Vulcanite and attack it with regular attacks. If the Boss defeats the targeted Vulcanite, it will switch its target to another random Vulcanite from any player in combat.
- Cleave Attack: Occasionally, the Boss performs an AoE attack that deals damage to all Vulcanites currently attacking it.
- Sunder Armor: With a certain chance on Basic and Cleave Attacks, the Boss can apply a debuff that increases the damage taken by the Vulcanite for a certain amount of time. This debuff is powerful and can stack multiple times, increasing the Boss’s pressure on the Vulcanites as the fight goes on. This debuff can be tracked in the Buff Display Field and in the Active Abilities Tab.
- Enrage: After a certain amount of time in combat, the Boss will go into enrage, significantly increasing the damage of its Basic and Cleave Attacks. This means you should not waste time during the fight!
- Vulcanite Rest Debuff: When the Boss deals damage to your Vulcanite, you will be afflicted with a negative effect that significantly increases the time required to regenerate fallen Vulcanites using the Rest ability. Therefore, you should try to keep your Vulcanites alive as long as possible. This debuff can also be tracked in the Buff Display Field and in the Active Abilities Tab.
Against Avatar
- Blast Sphere: These are relatively small spheres that spawn all around the Boss arena and explode after a certain time. If your avatar is in the Blast Sphere area during the explosion, all your Vulcanites will take a large portion of damage.
- Greater Blast Sphere: This is a larger counterpart of the Blast Sphere. It spawns less frequently but has a larger AoE zone and deals much higher damage to the Vulcanites, so you should be cautious as it may wipe you out!
- Burning Grounds (Damage Zone): Once in a while, a damage zone spawns in the arena. This zone lasts for a long duration and deals medium periodic damage to the player Vulcanites whose avatar is standing in it, so it’s best to avoid these zones.
Raid Bosses are more than just a fight; they’re a community event. Rally your guildmates, forge alliances with other players, and unleash your inner strategist. Together, you can topple these titans and claim legendary rewards!
