VulcanVerse Update: The Forge Opens, Wryon Finds His Voice, and Tartarus Levels Up

This update is a big one. The Equipment Upgrade System is live at the Forge in Vulcan City, Wryon the wandering troll can now talk back with AI-powered replies, and Tartarus gets a sweeping refresh with new UI, systems, and a mountain of fixes and polish.

The Forge in Vulcan City — Upgrade, Evolve, Dominate

The new Equipment Upgrade System lets you shape your build through meaningful progression.

Where to start

  • Find the Forge in Vulcan City and open the Equipment Upgrade interface.

  • Only crafted gear can be upgraded (e.g., forge Shattered Equipment into full items). Starter/default weapons can’t be upgraded.

Core stats (apply only while the item is equipped)

  • Attack Damage – boosts basic and combo attacks.
  • Martial Skill Damage – flat bonus on your Martial Skill.
  • Flat HP (Shields) – adds effective HP based on your current %HP (equip/unequip to gain/lose the bonus).

Essence & Resource Burning

  • Burn spare items to create Essence, the currency used for upgrades. Higher item rarity yields more.
  • Essence has capacity limit; if your burn would exceed the cap, the extra items won’t be consumed.

Level Up (1 → 16)

  • Each level increases base stats; milestones at 4, 8, 12, 16 grant bigger boosts and power up any unlocked substats.
  • Higher levels have lower success chances. Failures never drop your level (they only consume Essence).
  • Quick Upgrade can auto-roll to a chosen milestone (4/8/12/16) and shows a summary of Essence spent and your final level.

Star Evolution (1★ → 5★)

  • Hitting Level 16 unlocks Star Evolution. Evolving resets the item to Level 1 but keeps all stat gains from the previous 16 levels.
  • Cost = sacrifice N items of the current star level (1→2★ needs 1 duplicate; 2→3★ needs 2, etc.).
  • Each new star unlocks one substat, up to four at 5★.

Substats & Rarity

  • Weapons: substats grant Martial Skill Damage.
  • Shields: substats grant Flat HP.

Pro tip: You’ll also find Forgebinding Compound at food vendors. It’s a reagent used during star upgrades.

Wryon Speaks (Finally)

The cult hero of VulcanVerse, Wryon the Wandering One, now responds with AI-driven dialogue. Type a message, hit Enter, and brace yourself for nonsense, half-truths, and the occasional flash of strange wisdom. Where? When? …Exactly.

Tartarus + Avatar Panel New UI, Systems & Quality-of-Life

Avatar Panel & Tutorial Options

  • Avatar Panel rework: the Avatar Equipment UI has moved from the Tartarus NPC into your Avatar Panel, now with a 3D preview and a cleaner layout.

  • Tutorial settings (Hide Tooltips, Restart Tutorial) are now in Gameplay Settings via the ESC menu.

Vendors & New Reagent

  • Vendor system expanded to support wider items for sale.
  • Forgebinding Compound added to food vendors (used for equipment star upgrades).

Combat/UI Touches in Tartarus

  • Action Bar redesign and polish.
  • Vitals Panel updated; Heroism bar now appears in Tartarus.
  • Equipment Upgrade UI: added upgrade VFX and a handy breakdown readout.
  • ACS (archery) updates: bow aiming/feedback improved; tension display and visuals refined.

Bug-Fix Round-Up (Highlights)

We’ve tackled a large batch of issues across gear progression, UI, and the Tartarus playspace:

Warrior Upgrades & Equipment

  • Fixed cases where repaired weapons (e.g., Fulmen Axes, Shattered Aether Sword, Broken Moro, Shattered Iron Scutum, Broken Connor) failed to appear in Warrior Upgrades.
  • Fixed weapons not disappearing from inventory after repair.
  • Fixed resource transfer in the Equipment Upgrade UI.

UI/UX & Controls

  • Resolved left-mouse not working on action bar slots 1–9.
  • Restored sounds for interaction buttons and key UI actions (quest journal, avatar window, side panel toggle).
  • Fixed tooltip visibility when Hide Tooltips is off.
  • Addressed overlaps and missing buttons (Quest Log, Achievements), icon swapping issues, and version/UI overlap problems.
  • Fixed prompts wrongly asking to delete items when moving them in inventory.
  • Fixed issue preventing viewing other players’ Vulcanite stats under Elixir of Insight.

Tartarus World Fixes

  • A major pass on missing/extra collisions, holes, and out-of-bounds exploits across many zones and coordinates.
  • Clean-up of floating assets (rocks, trees, braziers), texture flickering, and mob pathing/bridge behaviors.
  • Adjusted geyser visuals/collisions and chest spawn edge cases.

(There are many more minor fixes under the hood to keep fights, movement, and UI feeling solid.)
